The impressive gaze of Luis Buñuel will be the image of this year's FICIE
Made by the illustrator Cristina Polop, the poster is centered on an impressive portrait of a young Luis Buñuel accompanied in the background by elements such as palm trees and the audience attending the Hort screenings.
According to Luis Boyer, president of Fundación Mediterráneo, “this year we wanted to celebrate the 45th anniversary of our Elche Film Festival with a very powerful poster that reviews some of the main milestones of the event, among which Luis Buñuel stands out with his own name. , the mythical Aragonese filmmaker, who also gives his name to the Cine Club together with which we founded this Festival in 1978”.
Buñuel’s portrait is accompanied by complementary elements in the background, which represent the three key elements of FICIE: On the one hand, the Cinema, embodied by Luis Buñuel; on the other hand, the space where the Festival takes place, L’Hort del Xocolater; and lastly, the public, an essential part of the festival, and without which everything else would not be possible.
According to the creator of the poster, Polop, “Buñuel, more than a surrealist, was a groundbreaker” who in his films made “acrimonious criticism of appearances.”
