About the festival

The Elche Film Festival is the oldest short film festival in the Valencian Community and one of the oldest in Spain.

Since its beginnings in 1978, it has been a meeting point for filmmakers and the public. Its main objective is the promotion of new talents and the dissemination of film culture.

The festival is open to the public and its main venue is the Hort del Xocolater, a space of unique cultural and natural value located in the heart of the Palmeral de Elche, a World Heritage Site. Simultaneously, the short films of the official section are screened on the beach of Arenales del Sol.

It is currently a collaborating festival of the Film Academy and a pre-selection for the Goya awards in the categories of Fiction, Documentary and Animation.
